Reddit CEO says blackout protest `will pass`, pisses off mods even more

What was supposed to be a 48-hour blackout instituted by Reddit`s volunteer moderators is looking like it may result in some of the site`s biggest communities being offline for much longer than the 48 hours initially proposed. Every time Reddit CEO Steve Huffman opens his mouth he makes it worse. When it was revealed that Reddit`s planned API changes would result in the death-by-fees of some great third-party Reddit apps for users and moderation, Reddit`s volunteer moderation corps started plans to protest the changes. They intended to take their subreddits private (preserving the content, but not allowing access to outside users) for a 48-hour `blackout`. Then Huffman held a Q&A with the community and gave lawyerly-vetted responses that only further incensed the community and added thousands more subreddit communities to the blackout list.
